While Ed Sheeran has mostly remained mum about his romantic affairs, several publications have linked the British crooner to one of his long-time friends. According to Irish Mirror, the singer's girlfriend is Irish model Louise Johnston.

"Louise and Ed have been friends for years but now they have become a lot closer," claimed the source. "They are constantly in touch, even when he is on tour, but he is coming here soon for a gig in Dublin and they will be able to catch up then."

"Friends and family now know, so it is out there. Louise really cares about him and it's going very well." 

The same insider revealed what sets Ed Sheeran's girlfriend apart from the other ladies the "Tenerife Sea" singer has dated.

"The fact Louise isn't a big star is helping things move along nicely. She is different to some of the girls he has been linked to," the source added. "She's known Ed since long before he was selling out stadiums and their friendship has built up over the years, so it's not as if Louise is a starry-eyed girl."

Hollywood Life previously linked the "Photograph" hit maker to Selena Gomez. The two were reportedly spotted partying on June 25.

However, some fans speculate that the reason why Ed Sheeran and Selena Gomez hang out is because of their common friend, Taylor Swift.

Prior to Louise Johnston, Ed Sheeran's girlfriend used to be Athina Andrelos.
