One Direction's Zayn Malik has reportedly shelled out a whopping £3 million ($4.6 million) for a mansion that has six bedrooms and five bathrooms. The property has a three-bedroom guest cottage. The Brit crooner allegedly purchased the property so that it could be his and fiancée Perrie Edwards' "safe haven."

An insider told the Sun that One Direction's Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards opted to make the purchase to prove that they're serious with each other.

"They've had to shoot down rumours of a split after his exit from the band and this is both of them showing everyone just how serious they are," said the insider. "They're engaged and need somewhere they can both call home - and this house is it."

The source went on to reveal that the mansion is perfect for the 22-year-old who just got out of a busy lifestyle.

"Zayn has a bit more time on his hands than he used to, so this is a good place to be for him to hang out with mates or just spend some time alone. Plus it is just half an hour or so from London so Zayn won't be going into exile just yet."

Recently, Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards had to deal with an unpleasant hashtag which became trending on Twitter; #CANCELYOURENGAGEMENTZAYN.

The Little Mix songstress, on the other hand, appears to be unaffected.

In a recent interview with We Love Pop, she said that she prepared herself for the fans' reactions following Zayn Malik's decision to quit One Direction.

"I was upset at first because it was such a huge decision he made, and he has to live with that for the rest of his life," she said.

Nonetheless, she quickly added that she'll always be there to "support him [Zayn Malik] and be there for him whatever he decides to do."
