'The Mentalist' Star Simon Baker Makes Directorial Debut; Actor Sporting Longer Locks

From "The Mentalist" to the big screen, Simon Baker is making his directorial debut on the film adaptation of Tim Winston's book, "Breath."

Simon Baker, who's now sporting longer locks after the conclusion of "The Mentalist," will be in Denmark to shoot on location for the film.

In an interview with ABC, he said, "There's an enormous responsibility with this book because people love this book so much.

"People really identify with that and I think the strength of Tim's writing in a lot of ways is that it talks about the ordinary in such a beautiful, detailed way," the Australian actor said. "It affected me in that way. It felt like it was my small town that I grew up in."

But why choose Denmark to be the fictional town of Sawyer where the novel is set?

"The Mentalist" actor Simon Baker said, "As soon as we drove into the town there was just an appeal straight away. It felt rich in authenticity and you knew that as soon as you opened doors you were going to find interesting characters and genuine people that have a real sense of community and a feeling for pride for the area.

"You can't deny the beauty of the environment. The scope of it, the scale of it... there's a timelessness about it as well," the "The Mentalist" actor added.

However, on Thursday evening, Simon Baker was at the Sydney Opera House for the Art of Music Live event.

"He wore his trademark dark frames at the event and appeared to have styled his longer blonde locks neatly to the side," Daily Mail said. "He also rocked a growing beard, that he has in recent months maintained since finishing up The Mentalist."

Later, Simon Baker's wife, 47-year-old Rebecca Rigg, joined him for the event wearing a long black grecian gown with deep neckline.
