Emma Watson To Star In 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Denied By Studio

The buzz surrounding Emma Watson as Anastasia Steele in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film was denied by the studio Friday afternoon.

News was leaked on Friday that infamous hacking group Anonymous had uncovered confidential information that the former Harry Potter starlet would be playing the lead in the upcoming Fifty Shades project.

Anonymous claims they successfully hacked into the internal server of the German studio Constantin Films and obtained the secret information that the 22-year-old British actress as indeed signed on to play the lead in Fifty Shades of Grey.

The studio, however, told the Hollywood Reporter that this is simply not true.

They claim that the information that was leaked was outdated and available to many people within the company.  Although Constantin did acknowledge they were, in fact, hacked.

Universal Pictures is the studio actually making the film, alongside Focus Features, and a spokesman for the company spoke with USA Today Friday afternoon to confirm the statement made by Constantin denying Emma Watson has been cast.

"No one has been cast yet," the spokesman reported.

Emma Watson's representatives have not yet commented on the rumors, and while there is no confirmation as of yet, there is still a lot of buzz flying around that she will ultimately end up taking the female lead.

Furthermore, the studio has yet to confirm a director for the film, which is being written by Kelly Marcel.

Ian Somerhalder is allegedly being considered for the male lead, but he has yet to say if he has signed on to play the role of Christian Grey.  On Wednesday's episode of Live with Kelly and Michael, Somerhalder said, "There are so many young boys up for this role," the actor said. "I can't say anything other than it's a very interesting story."

Emma Watson has gradually been shedding her innocent good girl persona.  She recently starred in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and is working on the upcoming movie from Sophia Coppola, The Bling Ring
