Pennsylvania Pastor Gets Life Sentence For Killing Second Wife; Police Investigating Possible Murder Of First Wife In 1999

A Methodist church pastor was given a life sentence in prison without parole for the 2008 murder of his wife, Betty Schrimer. The jury deliberated for only 90 minutes before handing the pastor a life sentence.

64-year-old Arthur Schrimer has been found guilty of killing his wife, Betty Schrimer, by hitting her in the head with a crowbar. The pastor claimed his wife sustained the injury to her head in a car accident when he swerved into a guardrail to avoid hitting a deer.

The police were ready to believe the car accident story until it came to their attention that a man committed suicide in the pastor's office after learning the pastor was having an affair with his wife.

The police launched a more thorough investigation and came to the conclusion that Pastor Schirmer killed his second wife, Betty.

Once on trial for the murder of Betty Schirmer, the pastor was reinvestigated by the police for the death of the pastor's first wife, Jewel.

Jewel Schirmer was found in a pool of blood at the bottom of a flight of stairs when the pastor came home one day. The pastor is claiming to be innocent of both murder charges.

The pastor is still awaiting trial for the 1999 murder of his first wife, Jewel Schirmer.
