Missouri Mom Charged In Faking Abduction, Spent 4 Days In A Motel Smoking Pot

Rachel Koechner and her 4-year-old daughter Zoee were reported missing last week. Now the 28-year-old mom is charged with faking the abduction.

Koechner and her daughter were reported missing on Thursday after the mom sent a text message to her boyfriend reading, "Help Me." The pair was found Monday night in a central Missouri home.

The authorities believed Zoee's father Devon Sanders kidnapped the mom and her daughter. Devon Sandner and Rachel Koechner have been divorced since November 2012.

Devon Sandner has been charged for domestic violence. His current girlfriend accused him of hitting her in the face. He is no longer a suspect in the fake abduction but the police have taken him into custody on an outstanding forgery charge.

Rachel Koechner called her boyfriend while she and her daughter were "kidnapped" saying everything was okay. Chariton County Sheriff, Chris Hughes told reporters,

"She called her boyfriend and said everything was okay, but it sounded like she was reading from a script."

Koechner called her boyfriend from a motel in Blue Springs a suburb of Kansas City. By the time the police arrived at the motel the mother and daughter were gone. They were found Monday night at a home in Linn County.

Koechner has been taken into custody and is being held in the Chariton County jail until charges are filed. After the investigation the police found she faked the abduction story. Rachel Koechner and Devon Sandner spent four days in the motel smoking synthetic pot.

Sheriff Chris Hughes called the fake abduction "a very unfortunate situation." Zoee Sandner is currently is the custody of the state.
