Windows Phone 8 Challenge To Air During March Madness

In October 2012 Windows released the Windows Phone 8 an upgrade to the Windows phone 7. The phone was equipped with a cluster of new features. They include Pin, people hub, rooms, kid's corner and metro.

Metro is a code written into the phone that produces better applications by focusing more on the app's content instead of graphics.

Last year Windows started the Windows Phone Challenge which pit any smart phone against the Windows phone to try and show people how much faster it is than the other smart phones out there.

The Challenge has a Facebook page and a YouTube channel. "We bet people that Windows Phone is simply faster at the everyday stuff they do on their smart phones," reads the caption on the Windows Phone Challenge Facebook page.

They have a video of a guy named Ben challenging a mother and daughter that his Windows Phone will find a restaurant that serves macaroni and cheese faster than their Iphone. If Ben lost he had to buy them dinner.

Of course the Windows Phone beat the Iphone. It would look pretty bad if they posted a video showing their own product failed to live up to their boast.

In the Windows blog on their website Ben Rudolph reports that followers of the Windows Phone Challenge will get to see a 30 second spot between the Nokia Lumia 920 Pure View vs. the Galaxy S III by Samsung. The spot will air at various times during the NCAA Tournament on ESPN and CBS.

Fans of the Windows Phone Challenge left comments about the phone on the contest's Facebook page.

Dave Zimbrich posted, "No smoke and mirrors just a 'smokin' great phone...wake up and smell the burning Iphones and Droids trying to keep up!"

Johan Van Mierlo says, "It is so true, go ahead and test anyone with a windows phone."

In anticipation for March Madness Windows Phone released some new apps so fans can keep up with their favorite teams.

Brackets 2013, Quick Scores and Mobil Madness are just a few of the applications offered to Windows Phone users.
