Octomom, Mother Of 14, Could Face 3 Years In Jail For Welfare Fraud

According to TMZ, Nadya Suleman, A.K.A the Octomom, is being investigated for welfare fraud. The mother of 14 went on welfare in 2012 but stopped shortly after she got into the porn business. TMZ says Octomom went back on welfare in 2013, when she burned through all of her money.

According to Benefits.gov, California Law distributes welfare to a seven person household if they make under $48,113.00 per year. If you are living in a household with more than seven people, add $4,862.00 for each additional member. The Octomom has 14 children including herself; it is a 15 person household.

Assuming the math is correct, Octomom could collect welfare if she earned below $87,000.00 a year for her 15-person household. TMZ is reporting that in 2012, Octomom earned over $119,000.00 while collecting welfare.

She earned the money by doing porn and stripping. Her solo sex video earned her the "Best Celebrity Sex Tape" award from the AVN Awards, an adult entertainment award show.

TMZ is also reporting that Welfare Fraud Prevention and Investigation is currently looking into the fraud accusations against Octomom. If she is found to have committed fraud, Octomom could face up to three years in prison.

Octomom has found herself in other legal troubles. Last February her home was searched by Children's services after a nanny reported Suleman was abusing drugs and alcohol in the home. There was no evidence found and the children were not taken from the home.

Nadya Suleman was dubbed the Octomom in 2009 when she gave birth to 8 babies. The public was at first amazed by the woman's story until it was discovered she had 6 other children at home with no means of taking care of them.
