Sofia Vergara announced in April's Vogue issue that she wants to have more kids and is freezing her eggs.

Sofia Vergara is freezing her eggs so she can have another child with her current boyfriend, Nick Loeb.

Vergara has been dating Loeb since 2010, and they are engaged.

40-year-old Sofia Vergara welcomed a baby on her hit show Modern Family and, like the character she plays, is ready to raise another child.

However, Vergara is aware that she is approaching middle age and menopause. So, to prepare for the eventuality that she won't be able to conceive naturally, she has decided to freeze her eggs.

She told Vogue, "I have to be careful what I eat because they're freezing my eggs! And then after that, it is hormone injections. They want to get as many good eggs as they can because usually you produce them but they're not good. They have to be perfect, perfect, perfect ones. My boyfriend is 37, younger than me, never had kids."

Sofia Vergara already has one son, Manolo, who is 21 years old.

Her son Manolo is from a prior marriage, and was named after Steven Bauer's character in Scarface, Manny Ribera. Vergara said, "I looooved that movie, and I was in love with Steven Bauer."

The Diet Pepsi spokeswoman didn't reveal in the interview if she would have the baby herself, but rumors have circulated that Vergara will be having the baby via a surrogate mother.

A source near Sofia revealed to HollywoodLife.com that she would use a surrogate. The source explained that Vergara is worried that if she gets pregnant, she won't get acting roles based on her figure any more.

"At this stage in her career, it's too risky for her to be pregnant and take her out of the sexy roles that she's getting right now. She would lose her figure and at her age there's no guarantee that she would ever look the same."

Another insider told New York Post's Page Six, "The child will be biologically Sofia and Nick's baby, and she has selected a surrogate - who is a very close girlfriend - to carry the baby."

The procedure has already allegedly taken place, and the couple is waiting on confirmation of conception.

The insider continued, "A procedure has taken place, and Sofia and Nick will find out in a few weeks if it was successful, if the surrogate is pregnant and if they will become parents."
