Carrie Ann Inaba Father Passed Away Days Before 'DWTS' Season Premiere; 'I Dedicated The Show To Him'

Carrie Ann Inaba father passed away just few days before the "Dancing With the Stars" season premiere on Monday.

Inaba's smile disguised her struggle through the tragedy and she revealed the sad news in her People.com blog the day before the show.

"Last night was very emotional for me," revealed Inaba in a very personal blog posted to People.com on Tuesday.

"My father, Rodney Y. Inaba passed away this past Thursday morning and it's been a really challenging time. Losing a loved one is something that is so very hard to understand and cope with. I'm filled with a tremendous sadness but also a relief, for he is in a better place now," she wrote.

Inaba made the decision to go on with the show and went on to honor her father's memory and thank him for everything.

"But I felt my father's spirit was with me last night, supporting me and cheering me on," she explained. "And I dedicated the show to him, in gratitude for all that he taught me about life; for his bravery, his courage, his huge heart and his love for the underdog."

Inaba didn't show her grief during the show, as she went on with her typical dance critiques and even flirted with some of the male dancers.

Finishing the entry with a touching message, "Dad, I know you're up there dancing in joy (he used to do a little ballroom/social dancing when he was in the service). I love you."

"Dancing With the Stars" airs every Monday and Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
