Harrison Ford Says He Expects To Return As Han Solo In New Star Wars Film 'I Think It's Happening' Actor Says

Harrison Ford expects to reprise his role as Han Solo in the seventh film in the Star Wars franchise to be directed by J.J. Abrams, creator of "Lost."

"I think it's almost true. I'm looking forward to it," Ford told Chicago's WGN9 News on Tuesday when asked if the rumors that the original "Star Wars" cast, including Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) would reunite in the film.

"Star Wars: Episode VII," is slated for release in 2015.

Although Ford didn't confirm the intergalactic reunion was a done deal, he did make it sound extremely likely.

"It's not in the bag yet, but I think it'll happen, and I'm delighted," Harrison said.

Ford quipped that Princess Leia might be "in an intergalactic old folks' home."

The actor made the comments while walking the red carpet to promote his new film, the baseball biopic "42" about Jackie Robinson's historic signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The Star Wars films have been given new life after Disney purchased Lucasfilm and the Star War rights along with it, from franchise creator George Lucas back in October for $4.05 billion.

Harrison Ford is expected to star in the first Disney-produced Star Wars film along with other original cast members.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Ford could also star in a spin off film as a narrative device to tell the story of Han Solo's adventures as a young man.

Ford has said he never particularly enjoyed playing Han Solo.

"As a character, he was not so interesting to me," Harrison told ABC in 2010.
