MMA Fighter Faked Death? Charlie Rowan Supposedly Dies in Car Crash, Only To Be Arrested For Armed Robbery Later

MMA fighter faked his death last month then became a suspect of robbing a Michigan gun shop this week.

This bizarre story of Charlie Rowan began a month ago when the fighter didn't show up at a fight in Traverse City, Michigan. Instead his girlfriend Rosalinda Martinez did telling the sad news of Rowan's supposed died in a car crash.

Fellow fighters and DiPonio, who owns the Diamond D fight team helped, organize a benefit to raise over $1,300 for the Rowan family.

"I just felt bad for his family," Piliafas, who's also a fighter, told Up North Live.

However shortly afterwards Rowan, girlfriend Martinez, and friend Michael Bowman were charged Friday with armed robbery and assault with attempt to commit murder.

The thing is Rowan faked his own death for reason that still remains unclear. So he's not dead, but in prison.

Piliafas was upset that he was duped by an amateur heavyweight. As Martinez apparently told friends, fighters, and others that Rowan, 25, died in a car crash several week ago. Then to their surprise his photo surfaced that he had been arrested for robbing a gun shop in Gladwin County.

"This crime is especially heinous since the owner of the gun store was savagely attacked and is in critical condition," stated the Gladwin County Sheriff Michael Shea.
