Jennifer Capriati was charged with battery and stalking ex-boyfriend Ivan Brannan Thursday and ordered to appear in a Florida court on April 17, according to the Daily Mail.  

The 36-year-old former professional tennis player's 28-year-old ex-boyfriend, Brannan, claims that Jennifer Capriati charged at him in the gym escalating what had been a verbal dispute.

"Brannan attempted to get away from Capriati by walking to the men's locker room," the New York Post quotes the police report as saying.

"Capriati followed Brannan, cut him off from entering the locker room and in an angry manner stuck her finger in his chest. As the incident escalated, Capriati punched Brannan with a closed fist, four times in his chest."

Jennifer took to Twitter to defend herself.

"I pushed a man that was verbally assaulting me away from me," she wrote on Friday. "This man has been tormenting and abusing me for so long. The truth will prevail."

Brannan claims that since he and Capriati broke up last year she has stalked and harassed him, calling his job over 100 times in one day.

Capriati, who retired from professional tennis in 2004 because of injuries, won an Olympic gold medal in 1992 at age 16, and three singles championships in her  career as a player that always charged up the fans.

She was also was charged with marijuana possession and shoplifting in the early 1990s.

Christine Corley, another Brannan ex-girlfriend, believes Jennifer's story.

Corley tweeted Saturday that this is exactly the kind of exaggeration that Brannan who she has a three year old son with, is always engaging in.

"'See I'm not crazy!" she wrote. "This is the father of my child! HILARIOUS."

Corley told Gossip Extra that Capriati's ex is a habitual liar.

"'He is doing to Jennifer Capriati what he did to me," she said. "This man is just a master manipulator."
