Real Maine Weddings, a wedding and lifestyle magazine who holds an annual wedding contest, says that Jenna Eagleton and Caroline Currie were chosen among three finalist couples. The announcement on the gay couple winning $100K wedding prize was made Sunday at the Maine Wedding Association Bridal Show in Freeport.

Eagleton and Currie are from Portland, Maine.

Voters have approved a gay marriage referendum in Maine last November, allowing same-sex couples to marry. Gay marriages have been official in the state since late December 2012.

Eagleton and Currie plan to get married in Kennebunkport in October. The prize from the gay couple’s $100K wedding win includes the reception, a wedding dress, tuxedos, rings, flowers and limousine service. Organizers say Currie’s father asked the couple to move up their planned 2014 wedding because he is suffering from leukemia.

The magazine says that couples enter the giveaways by submitting a video to the magazine’s website saying why they deserved a free dream wedding.

On their website, the magazine says that “Thanks to Maine voters taking to the polls to voice their support for the legalization of same-sex marriages in the state, we were able to open the contest to same-sex couples this year. Jenna & Caroline were the first same-sex couple to enter our contest, and they will have their dream wedding in Kennebunkport in October.”

This is the third year the magazine has given a lucky couple a $100,000 dream wedding, the first for a gay couple to win the $100K wedding.
