Chris Brown Explains “X” Album In Sneak Preview; Talks Music, Public Image With Ryan Seacrest On Radio Show

Chris Brown is counting on his latest album "X" to help recover his public image.

R&B singer Chris Brown has been completely immersed in creating "X" for the past few months. It will be Brown's sixth album since he broke into the music industry with 2005's hit "Run It!"

Brown got even more famous in 2009 when he was charged with felony assault for beating girlfriend Rihanna.

"X" will allegedly reveal the emotional and creative growth that Brown has undergone recently.

Chris Brown said, "'X' is about life, it's about me. 'X' is the 24th letter of the alphabet, and I'll be 24 when it comes out. When you see X on a vial, it's like forbidden fruit. For me, it means being able to express myself without a filter, without boundaries."

Brown is releasing the first single and video off of "X", called Fine China, on April 1. The video, according to USA Today, is a lavish cinematic experience that mixes martial arts and dance moves.

The single Fine China is an up-tempo song that enumerates the qualities of a woman. He said of the single, "I wanted to touch musically on Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke."

"X" is due out by late summer. Chris Brown told USA Today, "I'm going back to groundwork. I'll show people who I am and not be a recluse. I wasn't ready to talk before. It was timing. I'm more comfortable in my own body."

Brown hopes that his new press tour for his album will help to diminish the violent reputation he's gathered over the years. Brown allegedly fought with Drake at a New York nightclub last year, and more recently with Frank Ocean over a West Hollywood parking space.

Brown explained that the public hasn't seen his growth because "people see the circus on the blogs. I'm cool. I'm happy. I'm focused. I'm a lot calmer. Everyone has anger issues and days they don't feel like being bothered."

"I'm passionate about everything I do, whether I'm driving my car or hanging out. I wear my heart on my sleeve. That's a good thing and a bad thing. Sometimes it comes off the wrong way. I'm learning how to deal with it and how to channel that into my music," Brown continued.

Brown then talked about his album, "I wanted a Quincy Jones approach, where you bring in various writers and producers and they vibe off each other. I wanted to keep it comfortable and natural and draw creativity off the energy in the room. I wasn't focusing on what could make a No. 1 single. I was honing in on the craft and different emotions from my life. I was more open to defining who I am: Chris Brown, a young man, not a full grown man."

Brown started off his press tour with Ryan Seacrest on the 'American Idol' host's popular morning radio show.

Seacrest introduced Brown saying, "I was going back and forth in my mind whether or not we should do this interview. There was a time when we didn't have him on. The issue is sometimes I feel like he becomes his own worst enemy, and I do believe that he is sorry for these mistakes. I really do believe that." The radio interview can be viewed below.

Perhaps "X" will explain some of Brown's history and put his behavior in perspective, but it seems that he has a lot of work to do in convincing the public that he has left his aggression behind him and is a changed man and music artist.
