Various movie and celebrity press sites have stated Ryan Gosling is the front-runner to play Oscar Pistorius in a film about the blade runner's life.

According to UPI.com, there are 2 scripts in the works. Filmmakers are eager to have Ryan Gosling play Oscar Pistorius and Charlize Theron play his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

UPI.com also says both actors have already been approached to play the parts. There is no word on whether or not Gosling has agreed to portray Oscar Pistorius. There are no confirmed reports Theron has agreed to take on the role of Steenkamp.

Ryan Gosling has said publically that he wants to take a break from acting to focus on a directing career. UPI.com reports a source has told them, "Ryan has the kind of quiet magnetism that would make this project work -- plus there's some mystery about him," the source said.

"Although Ryan has been saying publicly that he wants to take a break from acting to relax, executives will be falling over themselves to woo him once the scripts are finalized."

As a baby Oscar Pistorius was diagnosed with a rare bone disease and had to have both legs amputated below the knee. He would grow up to become a national hero and Olympic athlete.

Pistorius' girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp had her own obstacles to overcome. The model and reality TV star was injured in an accident. Steenkamp broke her back and had to relearn how to walk.

According to UPI.com, writers began working on scripts for the Oscar Pistorius movie as soon as the scandal broke.

Oscar Pistorius is currently awaiting trial for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius admits to shooting Steenkamp several times through the door of their bathroom. Pistorius claims that he believed it was an intruder in the bathroom and not Reeva.

Pistorius is out on bail, but he is contesting the conditions of his bail. He resents having to report to a police station twice a week to check in as well as the travel restrictions he is under.

Oscar Pistorius' trial is set to take place in early June.
