Doritos Locos Tacos, Frit-Lay Creates Chips Based on Taco Bell Tacos

PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay announced their new chip flavor for Doritos that are based on the Doritos Locos Tacos at the Taco Bell.

The new product was announced on Twitter on Monday, that the product is scheduled to hit grocery stores on April 8.

Along with the announcement Doritos is supporting the new launch with a Twitter contest asking users to respond on, “How bold will you go for a pallet of Doritos Locos Tacos tortilla chips?”

Winner is to receive a 66 11-ounce bags of Doritos Locos Tacos Nacho Cheese-and-Crunchy Taco-flavored tortilla chips and 66 11-ounce bags of Doritos Locos Tacos Cool Ranch-and-Crunchy Taco-flavored tortilla chips.

Doritos Facebook page revealed that each Doritos Locos Doritos includes two different flavors in one package, half “Cool Ranch” or “Nacho Cheese” and half “Crunchy Taco.”

Taco Bell debuted their Doritos Locos tacos last March, which became a wide success as it sold more than 200 million of them in less than six months.

Last year, Taco Bell hinted about expanding their product line, and earlier this month it launched the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos taco, along with its largest marketing campaign to date, according to the company.

“We are gearing up for year two of our Doritos partnership with Taco Bell with even more exciting new products,” said PepsiCo Chief Financial Officer Hugh F. Johnson at a financial conference earlier this year.
