10-Year-Old Girl Found A Day Later After Kidnapped From Home In Woodland Hills, California: Girl Who Was Missing, Found Six Miles From Home

The 10-year-old girl who went missing Wednesday was found Thursday outside a Starbucks in Woodland Hills, Cali.

Sgt. Rudy Lopez told the Los Angeles Times that Nicole Ryan was spotted by someone who recognized her from information that had been publicized about the kidnapping. She immediately contacted the police.

"Her face was white," Nicolas Jackson, manager of an animation studio who spotted the girl next to Starbucks, told the Los Angeles Times. "She looked very tired and worried. You could see she had some worries for the past few hours."

The 10-year-old girl was found mid-afternoon about six miles from her home in the Northridge area of L.A., where it was believed she was kidnapped, the Times reported.

The girl's mother told authorities that she saw her daughter in her bedroom about 1 a.m. Two hours later, she went to check on her again, but noticed the bedroom door was slightly opened. When she looked in, the 10-year-old girl was gone. She searched the entire house, then called police.

"We don't know what happened inside of the house," said Los Angeles police Cmdr. Andy Smith. "But it certainly would appear that she didn't make it from her house over here a distance of some six miles all by herself."

Police reported that the girl had cuts and bruises, some of which were on her face.

"She basically is in shock right now," Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Kris Pitcher said.

Police said they found multiple places they believe the 10-year-old girl was taken to. They also reported that multiple cars were involved in the kidnapping.

"We're going to search every facet of this case, to find out what happened, and to get to the bottom of it," Smith said. "It's every parent's nightmare: In the middle of the night you go check on your child ... your child is gone."
