6 Years At Internet Café: Online Gamer in China Leaves Only For Food
A Chinese gamer has spent the past 6 years at an internet café.
Li Meng is reported by Xinhua News, to have been living at a local internet café in Changchun, a northeast city of China, only leaving for food and a shower now and then.
"No matter what was said, he refused to communicate with anyone else. I consulted the cafe owner, who simply explained that having been there for so long, they barely noticed his presence, and found him to be straightforward and of little annoyance," a reporter from Xinhua was quoted as saying by That's Magazine.
Local reports say the chronic gamer makes about 2,000 Yuan or $322 a month and pays around 500 Yuan to the café each month, which is around $80 a month.
"He generally comes at night to play the game, gets sleepy during the day and sleeps here. From time to time will be out to take a bath," one person, who was not named, said of the man's situation, according to Business Insider.
The news brings light to a potential rising problem for youth in China, this specific news may be an extreme but does show the prevalence of online gaming and internet addiction among the youth in China.
