‘Once Upon a Time’ Spin-Off ‘Wonderland’ Casts Sophie Lowe As Alice

ABC's "Once Upon a Time" spin-off called "Once: Wonderland" casts its Alice.

The show creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis announced Australian actress Sophie Lowe to have landed the role. Relatively unknown Lowe is to be the protagonist in the "Alice's Adventure in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There."

Lowe joins Michael Socha, who was casted earlier as the Knave of Hearts and Peter Gadiot, as "Cyrus, Alice's mysterious love interest."

The "once Upon a Time" spin-off will center on the story of Alice, a girl with a generous heart with a hart life, she is caught between her main love interest Cyrus and the heartbreaking Knave of Hearts.

It will be taken place in pre-curse Wonderland, however it's unclear how the reality-fairy tale mix the original "Once Upon a Time" did so well will factor in here.

The spin-off series will begin filming a short "teaser" presentation on April 7 in Vancouver, immediately following the conclusion of "Once Upon a Time's" second season.

Initial rumors said Sebastian Stan was being recast for a Mad Hatter spin-off, however Kitsis said a Paleyfest, "We have no plans to recast anyone."

"[It's not] another five-year, 22-episode series. It's much more in the vein of an 'American Horror Story,' with a beginning, middle, and end," says Kitsis.
