Nicki Minaj Twitter Beef With Former American Idol Contestant Devin Velez Escalates; Minaj Tells Velez “Be Gracious”

American Idol judge Nicki Minaj took her beef with former contestant Devin Velez to twitter after Velez made some negative remarks about the judges when he was kicked off Fox's reality show.

In particular, Nicki Minaj told Velez via twitter that he shouldn't complain that the judges didn't use their 'save' to spare him from exiting. On Friday, March 30, Nicki Minaj tweeted, "America r the 'potential' fans. U MUST win them over. 'Saves' are bulls--t and they know it. Those girls are just too good this year."

But Minaj's tweet rampage didn't end there. She compared Velez to another eliminated Idol contestant: Curtis Finch, Jr.

"Send the judges some flowers and a card. If Curtis didn't get SAVED, NONE of you get saved. Best male voice of the SEASON!!!!!!!! #TruthTea"

The feud began on Wednesday, when Velez and his group with Lazaro Arbos and Burnell Tyler gave a terrible performance of "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)," eliciting an outburst from Minaj. After the performance, Nicki Minaj criticized the group saying, "I'm gonna act like I didn't see that or hear it," and ordering the boys to leave the stage.

When talking to host Ryan Seacrest after the performance, Devin Velez said that he knew his part of the song, but stopped himself from naming who was 'at fault' for the unsatisfactory performance. He addressed the issue further in a conference call with reporters on Friday.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Velez said, "I agree with the first half of her critique, when she said that It felt like it was Hollywood week, that it was a joke, that stuff like that should not happen, that she was going to pretend that she didn't' hear it. When she went crazy - when she was like 'get off the stage, blah blah blah' and it's just like 'whoa Miss Minaj, I need you to calm down please.'"

He continued to say that "we still love Nicki," but that hearing her react so strongly was "a little cutting while on stage."

"She could have been upset because the night before she was wearing the same colored dress as Mariah, or that she was on time. We never know. But I know that I love her as a judge...It's when she gets into the exaggerative speaking, where it's just like, 'Ah, take it easy!' You don't want to hurt somebody else's feelings," Devin Velez said of Minaj's professionalism.

After finding out about Velez's comments, Minaj struck back on Twitter. She said, "Lol, Be mad @AMERICA when u get sent home. The JUDGES are the ones who FOUGHT for America to get the opp to vote for you #memba?"

"Trust me BEW BEW. If EYE didn't want u in that TOP, YOU wldnt have been in that TOP. Fought for ALL of You. So simply b gracious."

She concluded with some advice for Devin Velez, "Jennifer Hudson didn't win!!! Oscar Winner! #memba??? Ok. Take that exposure and let your light shine."

Unfortunately, Velez didn't take Minaj's tweets as 'constructive criticism, and responded with a tweet that he has since deleted. It originally read, "That moment when an adult stoops down to the 3rd grade level...LOL grow up Hun, I've got songs to write. :) #movingforward."
