Macy's Catalog Typo Lists $1,500 Necklaces for $47 In Error [VIDEO]

Macy's catalog typo listed a $1,500 necklace for $47, under "Super Buy."

The catalogs listing the 14k Gold and Sterling Silver Necklace with a major pricing error were sent out earlier this month and at least one location in Texas actually sold out of the expensive necklaces, which were supposed to be sold for $479, not $47.

Last month, Macy's mailed out an unknown number of lengthy sales advertisements to potential customers across the country. Somewhere among 44 pages listed the piece of jewelry with a steep discount.

A customer named Robert Bernard in Texas visited Macy's location at the Collin Creek Mall, only to discover all the necklaces to be sold out. However he put an order, however after Macy realized their mistake canceled his order and left a message on his answering machine.

"This item has the wrong price for $47. The correct price is $479 dollars and because of that pricing error, your order has been canceled and I apologize."

"When the mistake was caught, signage did go up in the fine jewelry department and on store doors alerting customers that a mistake had been made," Beth Charlton, Macy's spokeswoman wrote in an e-mail to News 8. "For those customers who bought the necklace at the $47 price, they were fortunate. For the gentleman you spoke with, he was not so fortunate. We are sincerely sorry he was disappointed and unable to buy the necklace at the $47 price for his wife."

Macy's will not be honoring the price printed in the ads, however some were lucky enough to manage to buy the bargain before the error was caught.
