Dallas Wiens, The Nation's First Full Face Transplant Recipient, Marries Fellow Burn Victim He Met At Support Group

Dallas Wiens, who received the first full face transplant after being burned in a 2008 power line accident, has married another burn victim that he met at a support group.

Texan Dallas Wiens wed Jamie Nash on Saturday, March 30 at the Fort Worth church where he was severely hurt by a power line.

Postor Scott Cox said about 200 people attended the wedding at Ridglea Baptist Church, according to Fox News. Cox said that the couple believes God brought them together.

The Dallas Morning News reported Wiens as telling Nash, "I am blessed beyond measure that you have chosen me, and I love you with all of my heart."

Wiens was painting the church when he accidentally touched a power line. While painting in a cherry picker, his left temple touched a high-voltage wire. He suffered facial burns all the way through to his skull and was completely blinded. In 2011, he underwent a full facial transplant at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Wiens' wife had her hands and back burnt in a 2010 traffic accident. Today, Nash speaks at schools and churches about the dangers of texting while driving.

This is the second marriage for Wiens and Nash. Wiens has a 5-year-old daughter from another relationship. Nash has a 10-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son.
