Las Vegas Restaurant Crash: Lexus Smashes Through Glass Restaurant Window, Injures 10 Customers

A car broke through glass at a Las Vegas restaurant Monday, injuring 10 people, sending some in serious condition to a local hospital.

Police told the Associated Press (AP) that a Lexus was heading westbound on the busy thoroughfare when it hit at least two other vehicles before veering across a median toward the Egg & I restaurant on Sahara Avenue at 12:30 p.m.

"I screamed, 'A car's coming!' and it exploded through the window," Suziliene McDonald told the AP.

McDonald was sitting with two sisters in the restaurant when she saw the vehicle speed toward the window.

Four people had to be removed from underneath the vehicle by firefighters, a witness told the AP. One of the four was a child, whose mother was also hospitalized from the incident.

Authorities said that an employee of the restaurant was struck by the car and reportedly was knocked in to the kitchen of the Vegas restaurant.

"The motor was still revving and the dust came right after it, just like in the movies," McDonald said.

She said there were two men inside the Lexus. They sat for a moment, but decided to make a run for it. McDonald said several men caught them and held them until police arrived.

"He kept saying he blacked out," McDonald said of the driver, who sat shirtless in handcuffs on the sidewalk while police investigated. "But he was awake when he ran from the car."

According to the restaurant owner, there was roughly 150-200 people dining inside the Las Vegas restaurant at the time of the crash.
