Another Manny Pacquiao Fight? World Champion May Meet Juan Manuel Marquez For A Match In Macau Or Singapore

Will there be another Pacquiao fight? Despite the past two defeats of the world champion, Manny Pacquiao is rumored to be meeting an old foe in a new place this September, according to the Associated Press.

Promoter Bob Arum is rumored to putting together a fifth fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, and is currently shopping the project to casinos in Macau and Singapore. He said Saturday night in between the Brandon Rios-Mike Alvarado fight that the bout will likely be held at one of the Venetian hotel-casinos in Macau or Singapore.

“The thing we’re waiting on is which one of their hotels they want to do it at,” said Arum in an interview.

Marquez would be the best boxer to be pitted against Pacquiao this time. Arum, in other interviews, however, also broached Timothy Bradley as a possibility. Bradley won a disputed and controversial decision over Pacquiao last year.

Marquez knocked Pacquiao out in the sixth round last December, flattening the Filipino fighter with his powerful right hand, causing the boxer to be left face down on the canvas for 2 minutes. It was Marquez's very first win in four fights between the two renowned rivals.

In the event Pacquiao meets Marquez, the match will be held far from the Las Vegas strip, where they fought all four of their widely seen fights. The MGM Grand Hotel would normally be the host for the bout, but the hotel is reportedly holding a September date for Floyd Mayweather, Jr., assuming he defeats Robert Guerrero on May 4.

Arum is in Macau this week for the fight card Saturday night at the Venetian. It features two-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming of China in his professional debut. Shiming is known to be the most successful amateur boxer from the People’s Republic of China.
