'Finding Dory' To Be Sequel Of 'Finding Nemo' in 2015, Which Ellen DeGeneres Voices The Main Character In The Disney And Pixar Film

Disney announced Tuesday that the 2015 sequel to "Finding Nemo" will be staring Ellen DeGeneres in "Finding Dory."

"I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time," Ellen DeGeneres, who voices Dory, said in a statement. "I'm not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating 'Toy Story 16.' But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It's got a lot of heart, it's really funny, and the best part is-it's got a lot more Dory."

Instead of a search for the fish, Nemo, the plot will be looking for a different fish, Dory.

"Finding Dory" is rumored to be taking place on the California coastline, one year after "Finding Nemo." The Pixar film is also rumored to bring such characters as Marlin, the Tank Gang and Nemo from the first installment.

DeGeneres stars on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which she interviews celebrities daily. The show debut in 2003, which was the same year "Finding Nemo" was released.

The sequel was first reported by Deadline.com in July of 2012.  Andrew Stanton will direct "Finding Dory," with Albert Brooks, who voiced Marlin in the first film, returning as well.

It would be 13 years since a sequel to the hit Disney and Pixar movie that was released in 2003. According to the Huffington Post, "Finding Nemo" grossed $921.7 million worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

In September, the original was brought back in theaters as "Finding Nemo 3D." Disney spent less than $5 million on revamping the film to fit the 3D screen. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the film grossed over $21.8 million.
