Jaromir Jagr Traded To Boston Bruins From Dallas Stars

Veteran forward and one of the strongest players in the NHL, Jaromir Jagr has been traded from the Dallas Stars to the Boston Bruins.

Jaromir Jagr is the 10th leading scorer in the NHL and has 14 goals and 26 points in 34 games so far this season. Jagr was traded to the Bruins for two forwards and a conditional second round pick in this years draft.

Jagr is the second choice for the Boston Bruins who thought they had secured forward Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames. Iginla was instead traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jaromir Jagr is 41-years-old and has 679 career goals. Jaromir Jager has had an impressive European Career and has played for 5 teams in the NHL. Jagr has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Washington Capitals, the New York Rangers, the Philadelphia Flyers and most recently the Dallas Stars.

Jaromir Jagr was born in Kladno Czechoslovakia and began playing hockey at the age of six. Jagr was drafted to the NHL in 1990; he was the fifth pick for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jockbio.com describes Jaromir Jagr as "the very definition of an NHL sharpshooter. When the puck is on his stick, he is aware of every twitch a goaltender makes, and every inch a defenseman is out of position. He can fire the puck through the slimmest openings, sometimes even anticipating holes that are a second or two away from developing."

The bio website adds, "Jaromir's defense has never been good, but he is an important man on the penalty kill because of his size, strength and ability to score shorthanded. He is murder on the power play; leading his team in power play goals almost every year... many fans appreciate his Original Six work ethic. He is never out of shape and rarely complains about injuries"

At the end of the year Jagr will be an unrestricted free agent. Boston.com reports he signed a $4.5 million deal with Boston.
