Shain Gandee Of 'Buckwild' Death Ruled From Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: How Did It Happen?

A representative for the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office released an official statement that said "Buckwild" star Shain Gandee's autopsy was completed Tuesday. The death was ruled an accident.

The office said it was carbon monoxide poisoning that killed Gandee, 21, his uncle and unnamed third person, TMZ reported. Gandee's 1984 Bronco's exhaust pipe submerged in the mud, causing gas to leak back into car, which ultimately killed all three men.

An ATV rider passed the three men Monday, discovering their bodies.

Gandee was last reported to going to ride his 4-wheeler at 3 a.m. Monday.

"Buckwild" follows nine friends in West Virginia, who live a simple, fun life, together.

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin wanted MTV to cancel the reality series while the first season was being aired. He said the reputation of West Virginia was even worse than it already was after "Buckwild" aired. It "plays to ugly, inaccurate stereotypes about the people of West Virginia" Manchin said when addressing the show.

"You preyed on young people, coaxed them into displaying shameful behavior - and now you are profiting from it. That is just wrong," Manchin said in a letter to MTV before the show was renewed for a second season.
