AMC’s Walking Dead Goofs Ad, Credits Wrong Network For Shows

AMC’s Walking Dead goofs an ad by the cable network when the series appeared on a full-page ad at the New York Times on Thursday. AMC touted the series a “rating success” in the ad and it also bragged about the zombie series’ rating dominance over “Modern Family” and “The Voice.” The Entertainment Weekly noticed and reported about the funny blunder.

The error begun when the ad mistakenly credited Fox for airing the comedy hit “Modern Family” and labeling “The Voice” as an ABC show.

Yahoo’s TheWrap.com describes the AMC ad a full-page “oopsie.”

The network, however, correctly identified that the Walking Dead killed CBS’ “Big Bang Theory,” Fox’s “American Idol” and History’s “The Bible” in the ratings season, specifically for adults 18-49 years-old.

Being somewhat humorous and on topic about the error, AMC said in a statement “it appears our fact-checking department was overrun by zombies.” The network also mentioned “we have the utmost respect for these shows and networks.”

AMC’s apocalyptic zombie drama is the top-rated scripted series for the 18-49 demographic and has beaten every show on cable and broadcast.
