Jimmer Fredette Sues Clothing Company Claiming The Owners Owe The NBA Star $50,000 Plus Royalties

Jimmer Fredette filed a lawsuit against a Utah-based clothing company for over $50,000 plus royalties that the NBA player claims was never paid to him.

Attorneys for Fredette told the Associated Press that they are currently working to resolve the lawsuit.

Fredette's Salt Lake City-based attorney, Tyson Snow, filed the complaint Monday in Utah's 3rd District Court against Black Clover Enterprises, the AP reported. It alleges breach of contract, abuse of Fredette's identity and using his name and likeness for profit.

Snow said Thursday he was hopeful the complaint could be dismissed shortly.

The company that has been selling Fredette hats verified that they are trying to resolve the issue with the former Brigham Young University (BYU) basketball star.

Brett Wayment, one of Black Clover's owners said the clothing company would like to continue working with the Sacramento Kings guard.

During his senior season at BYU, Fredette led the NCAA Division I in scoring, which helped catapult his draft status when he was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. He subsequently traded to the Kings during the draft in a three-team deal, which also included the Charlotte Bobcats.

Fredette has been relegated to coming off the bench for the Kings, but has yet to have near the success he had in college.
