Luke Bryan Shocks At Academy Of Country Music Awards, Takes Home Entertainer Of The Year Award

Luke Bryan was the co-host of the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night. He and co-host Blake Shelton put on a fun show with witty banter often poking fun at each other and their "tight jeans."

It wasn't Luke Bryan's first time co-hosting that had people's tongues wagging. What really had people buzzing was that Luke Bryan took home the coveted Entertainer of the Year Award at the ACMA's. Bryan beat out fellow co-host Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and two-time award winner Taylor Swift.

Making an emotional and grateful speech Luke Bryan fought back tears as he said, "This is the defining moment of my life and it means the world to me, and I will never take it for granted. What I always wanted to be was just a country singer that got to ride on a tour bus and show up at a new stage and play music every night...every time I step on stage, it is a blessing to play for fans."

Luke Bryan was handed his Entertainer of the Year Award by country superstar Shania Twain. Bryan is the first male performer to win Entertainer of the Year since 2007.

The shock about Luke Bryan winning the Entertainer of the Year Award comes from the fact that Bryan's popularity is relatively new so he was not expected to walk away with the award.

Other awards given out that night include, Female Vocalist of the Year, which went to Miranda Lambert. Lambert has won Female Vocalist of the Year for the fourth year in a row.

Jason Aldean took home Male Vocalist of the Year. Eric Church's album Chief won album of the year. "Little Big Town" won Vocal group of the year.

The three and a half hour live show had over 20 performances from the biggest names in country. Blake Shelton began the show with Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow, Pistol Annies and Luke Bryan all singing "Boys 'Round Here."

Hunter Haze debuted his new single "I went Crazy" and then joined Stevie Wonder for a rendition of Wonder's "Sir Duke."

Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan closed out the show along side Stevie Wonder singing "Sign, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)."
