Watch As Rick Pitino Ducks For His Life As Explosion Of Confetti From A Cannon Scares The Louisville Coach Moments After The National Championship Victory Over Michigan [VIDEO]

On the same day Rick Pitino found out he was selected for the 2013 class of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, his son was given his first head coaching job in the NCAA with Minnesota and the victor in the NCAA championship game, he ducked for his life Sunday night.

When the final buzzer sound and Louisville defeated Michigan 82-76 to win the National Championship, he went to shake the hand of Michigan coach John Beilein. Moments before reaching Beilein, a big boom went off in the stadium causing Pitino, 60 and everyone around him to duck as if their life was on the line.

It sounded like an explosion, but was really confetti bursting out of a cannon to commensurate the celebration of 68 teams dwindled down to one. The Georgia Dome in Atlanta was not coming down on what was the ending of a great day for Pitino.

Once he realized everything was ok, he smiled and shook the hand of Beilein, whose Wolverines were up as much as 12 against the Cardinals in the first half. Louisville climbed back to take the lead, but trailed by one at the half.

In the second half, it was more back-and-forth action, but ultimately, Louisville was able to pull away in the final minutes.

If Pitino didn't think there could be any more good news, he is the first coach in NCAA I history to win a national championship as a head coach with two different teams. It was 17 years ago when Pitino won a national title with Kentucky.
