Kevin Hart Arrested For DUI; Admits His Drunk Driving On Twitter, Says “This Is A Wakeup Call For Me”

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart was arrested for a suspected DUI early on Sunday, April 14, and tweeted surprisingly honest and heartfelt comments about his drunk driving.

Kevin Hart was speeding down a Los Angeles freeway at 90 mph in his black Mercedes, driving recklessly. The California Highway Patrol released a statement claiming Hart was weaving between traffic lanes and almost ran into a gas tanker truck.

When Patrol officers started pursuing Hart, the standup comedian took a nearby ramp and pulled over.

Police said, "Mr. Hart had objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform the field sobriety tests."

The comedian took to twitter in anticipation of the media's interest in his arrest. He tweeted, "When the cop asked me to take the sobriety test I said 'WHY WASTE OUR TIME...I'M DRUNK MAN.'"

Police booked Kevin Hart and held him on a $5,000 bond.

Hart has many fans that look up to him, on account of his standup routine about his father, who was addicted to drugs. So, Hart tried to do some damage control via his twitter account. On Sunday, he tweeted, "On some real sh**....drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid sh** this!"

"This is a wake up call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn't...everything happens for a reason," Hart concluded.

Hart has appeared in a number of movies, including "Think Like A Man" and "The Five-Year Engagement." He has also appeared as a guest on television show "Modern Family."

Hart got his big break in Judd Apatow's TV series "Undeclared." He has become a successful comedian, and has released three standup albums, most recently "Laugh At My Pain" in 2011.
