For the past six years, Faith Hill has performed the "Sunday Night Football" theme song on NBC weekly. The Grammy-winning country crooner announced the news about SNF via her Twitter feed Monday, April 15, 2013, typing "Amazing 2 have been part of SNF- an honor. I've just let everyone there know its time 2 let someone else rock the open."

Hill and husband Tim McGraw are still firmly together, as far as we know-- and hopefully, they'll be able to spend some quality time cuddling together as a result of Hill's bow-out.

The star said it was a"difficult decision." and "kinda emotional". There are bound to be some breakup pangs; she has a long-standing relationship with the show, performing weekly. Since 2007, Hill has performed a reworked version of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You" entitled "Waiting All Day For Sunday Night." Pink was her predecessor, belting out the theme in 2006.

Faith Hill was born in Jackson, Mississippi and started singing in local churches. Over her musical career, the country crooner has received nine Academy of Country Music Awards and five Grammy Awards. Hubby Tim McGraw and Hill have been married 16 years and have three daughters.

Faith Hill's opening has been parodied on a bevy of shows including South Park, 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, but fans and show officials alike are sad to lose her. The show's producer Fred Gaudelli tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Faith Hill is family to all of us at Sunday Night Football. For the last six seasons and two Super Bowls, her opening performance of 'Waiting All Day' set the tone for SNF and became a television staple. We will always be grateful for her performances and friendship. We wish Faith nothing but continued success."

No word yet from Gaudelli or NBC on who Hill's replacement will be.
