'Star Wars' Actor Richard LeParmentier Dies At 66: Role As The Defiant Admiral Motti Who Darth Vader Nearly Strangled With The Force Will Live Forever

"Star Wars" actor Richard LeParmentier has died at the age of 66, the Press Association reports.

Born in Pittsburg, the "Star Wars" actor, who had been living in the UK since 1974, died unexpectedly while visiting his children in Austin, TX, according to his publicist, Derek Maki.

"He absolutely loved travelling the world and meeting his friends and fellow Stars Wars fans, whose tributes have given us all the best lines in this message," his family said in a statement.

"He was no respecter of convention, except comic conventions," Rhiannon, Stephanie and Tyrone LeParmentier said in a joint statement. "Every time we find someone's lack of faith disturbing, we'll think of him."

LeParmentier's most famous role as an actor came when he was picked to play Admiral Motti in 1977's "Star Wars: A New Hope."

Motti was an underling of Intergalactic Empire Commander Darth Vader who dared challenge his strange superior in sci-fi fantasy epic.

When the actor's "Star Wars" character challenges Vader's "sad devotion to that ancient Jedi religion," the fallen Jedi knight uses the force to choke him within an inch of his life.

"I find your lack of faith disturbing," Darth Vader says in the iconic scene.

The cause of the "Star Wars" actor's death has not yet been revealed.
