CJ E&M Asks MBK Entertainment Not To Release Davichi Song

Davichi's former and current companies are at odds, according to a recent post on the vocal duet's official Facebook account.

On Monday, CJ E&M's music department released a statement via Facebook addressing a song recorded while Davichi was still signed with MBK Entertainment (formerly Core Contents Media). The statement explained why CJ E&M was requesting that MBK cancel the release of the track "Moments."

According to CJ E&M, the "Moments" recording is not up to the standards of Davichi and is currently being used to promote new MBK Entertainment artists despite Davichi leaving the company.

"After observing a rumor that Davichi will be releasing a new track, we have confirmed with MBK that the rumor to be true," the statement said.

The song "Moments" was played during an appearance of MBK Entertainment's new girl group DIA on the Naver V App.

CJ E&M called "Moments" a "scratch track" and highlighted a variety of issues with the release, including the fact that the track was not recording properly and was not released or re-recorded.

Davichi's agency also took affront with MBK for using the track in order to promote DIA, particularly due to the fact that Davichi no longer is signed to MBK.

"Taking into consideration of the fact that the contract between the artist and the previous label was terminated and that we are currently preparing for a new song and a concert for the first time in two years, we and artists are greatly disconcerted by this situation," said CJ E&M.

The statement was published in Korean, English, and Japanese, and requested fans to support Davichi.

Davichi will perform in Seoul on Dec. 30 and 31 at their "WINTER Hug" concerts, which will be held at Yonsei University.
