SM Entertainment has officially unveiled its latest trainee team, SMTR25, through a trailer film released on March 31 at midnight KST.

The talent management agency launched the trailer where the 25 trainees of the group showcased their synchronized dance moves and stage charisma. The video concludes with the caption, "Following our SMTOWN stage, our performance will continue."

In addition to the trailer, SM Entertainment also launched dedicated social media accounts for SMTR25.

SMTR25—short for SM Trainees 2025—was initially revealed as part of SM Entertainment's 30th-anniversary celebrations. The trainees performed iconic tracks such as SHINee's "Lucifer" and EXO's "Growl."

None of the trainees have been officially introduced as idols. SM Entertainment has also not released individual profiles of the trainees yet, although fans have identified several members based on past appearances and performances. Notable names include JJ, a Japanese-American former member of Big Hit Music's pre-debut project Trainee A; Tata, a Thai trainee with international experience and the older brother of actor Toto; and Chio, who has drawn attention for being the nephew of the executive director of Shinsagae.

Other members, such as Daigo, a former member of TO1, and Hanbi, who went viral for his striking visuals during the SMTOWN concert, have also captured public interest.

SM Entertainment has not yet announced an official debut date for SMTR25 or provided details about its future plans for the group. It is also unclear how the agency plans to choose the final line-up to join its new group.

SM Entertainment has a history of hosting a survival program for trainees to showcase their skills further and secure a spot in an upcoming group. For instance, it launched "NCT Universe: LASTART," which aired in 2023. This show introduced 10 trainees competing for spots in a new NCT unit, which was the group's final expansion. The program culminated in the selection of seven members, including Sion and Yushi from SM Rookies.
