TVXQ's Shim Changmin has wrapped up his individual activities overseas and bid farewell to fans in Japan.
Changmin will be enlisting in the South Korean military as a conscripted police officer on Nov. 19 in order to complete his mandatory two-year service. On Thursday, Nov. 5, Changmin attended an event in support of his recent TV drama Scholar Who Walks the Night, which a total of 26,000 fans are reported to have attended. The event was held at Japan's Yokohama Arena.
During the event, Changmin announced that Thursday's event was his final performance before his music industry hiatus. "This is the last official event to sing in front of the fans so it’s very meaningful," said Changmin, as reported by K-Pop Herald. He ended by asking fans to be patient and wait for him.
One day prior to his enlistment, Changmin will release a new solo album titled Close to You. The title track, "Into the Water," will be a ballad that compliments Changmin's rich and sweet voice.
In July, Changmin's TVXQ partner Jung Yunho began his military service in the 26th Division of Yangju. Their last activity as a group was with the release of eighth album Rise as God on July 20.
