Daft Punk Sets Spotify Record With “Get Lucky”

The electronic duo from France, Daft Punk set a record on Spotify Friday as having the biggest streaming day for a single track. Daft Punk set the Spotify record in the US and the UK with their single "Get Lucky."

According to the Associated Press, "Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" previously held the record for most streams in a day in the U.S. British band Bastille had the title in the United Kingdom with the song "Pompeii."

Spotify is a music streaming service launched in 2008. Spotify did not disclose the number of streams Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" had in order to set the record.

"Get Lucky" is the first single off Daft Punk's new album "Random Access Memories."  The album is set to be released on May 21. It is the first album Daft Punk has released since 2005; "Human After All."

In 2010 Daft Punk was featured on the Tron: Legacy soundtrack. They won their first Grammy in 2009.
