"Gangnam Style" hitmaker Psy (Park Jae Sang) is using his fame and fortune for a good cause.
The South Korean rapper was recently revealed to have donated 500 million KRW ($431,000 USD) to set up the Psy Treatment Center at a children's hospital in Seoul last year.
According to Yonsei Severance Hospital, the treatment center was established in Nov. 2014 and since then, more than 5,000 patients in need of psychotherapy and language help have received care there.
"Normally, around 10 to 20 patients -- sometimes up to 30 -- visit the center a day, set up by Psy’s donation," said a hospital official, as reported by the K-Pop Herald.
As for why the donation was kept a secret for so long, "The charity work has not been revealed because the singer did not want to make it public," explained a person familiar with the situation.
Psy is currently preparing to make his comeback on Dec. 1 with a new album, reportedly going back to his roots to hopefully produce another catchy earworm.
