'The Blaze' Posts Video That May Feature Boston Bombing Suspect

TheBlaze.com has posted a video taken as the Boston Marathon was underway that features a man with a large, dark backpack and what appears to be a roller bag.  The man is walking torwards the finish line. There is no confirmation yet over whether the man is connected to the bombing that occurred later that day. A reader of The Blaze asked the editors to look at a video he found, and the editors agreed that it was interesting. The footage might feature a suspect right before he planted a bomb near the finish line - or it may be nothing.

The FBI and other authorities have asked people to send any images or footage they have taken during the Boston Marathon in order to examine the images for potential evidence. Suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were identified, in part, because of surveillance camera footage.

The video is an interview with racer Shalene Flanagan after her 4th place finish. It originally appeared on the website Running.Competitor.com. In the background on the upper left of the screen, a man can be seen who is pulling what appears to be a roller bag and wearing a large backpack. He walks under a white tent toward the finish line. The interview is thought to have taken place around 11:30 AM.

An FBI representative requested TheBlaze send the information to a special email address. Blake Sexton, an independent security expert and former CIA analyst 'The Blaze' consulted told them that "it could be absolutely nothing - or it could be a turning point in the case. Law enforcement will have to verify a number of factors - for example: was the timing of this individual's appearance consistent with the detonations? Is there an immediate explanation for the backpacks seen in the clip? Once those initial steps are taken, then authorities will look to build upon this data. Were there other nearby cameras? Are there eyewitnesses who could verify this individual's identity? It is in chasing down exactly those kinds of questions that investigators may get the break they need to bring the marathon terrorists to justice."

The FBI has not yet commented on the footage.
