The writers of "Mr. Robot" season 2 are now back to their desks and hammering out the scenes of the highly-acclaimed TV series.
This was revealed by the show's creator Sam Esmail during a panel discussion at the USA Network's cross guild last Wednesday in Los Angeles, Deadline reported.
Joining Esmail at the panel were Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) and Rami Malek (Elliot Alderson), music composer Mac Quayle, costume designer Kim Wilcox and editor Franklin Peterson.
Esmail however was careful not to give out too much information on the series' sophomore season.
When asked how Slater's "Mr. Robot", who is only a figment of Elliot's imagination, is able to interact with the other characters of the show, the showrunner's response was, "We'll specifically address that scene in the second season."
Reacting to a query on whether Elliot will be facing off with drug lord Fernando Vera in "Mr. Robot" season 2, the 38-year-old director replied, "We have the writers in the room tonight, we'll consider that pitch."
Meanwhile, Esmail only had good words of Malek, whom he praised for his outstanding performance in the cyber-espionage series.
He admitted though that he was initially afraid that viewers would be turned off with Elliot's dark persona.
This is the reason he was pleased to find an actor like Malek who had the ability to create sympathy for the protagonist's rebellious character.
"I'm listening to all these great actors (during the audition) and what they had wasn't working at all," Esmail said.
"Then Rami comes in and added this warmth. It changed everything. He added a vulnerability to Elliot," he added. "I wanted to hug Elliot and say, 'Don't go away and stop talking.' Rami is a big owner in this character I created."
In a separate interview, Christian Slater revealed that a lot of developments will unravel in "Mr. Robot" season 2, according to News.com.au.
"The one thing I go know is the character of Mr. Robot does know a little bit more at times than Elliot does," he Slater said.
"So there are certain secrets that he still has and that he's holding onto and will reveal in due time," he added.
No release date has been set for "Mr. Robot" season 2 but there are rumors that the hit TV series might premier by June or July of 2016.
