Mark Burnett's History Channel Miniseries "The Bible" Is Being Turned Into A Movie

The most watched miniseries of all time, "The Bible," will hit the big screen turning it's History Channel TV production into a three hour movie. "The Bible," produced by Mark Burnett, aired weekly, on Sundays (of course), between March 3 and March 31, 2013 on the History channel.

The original Bible miniseries, which wrapped on Easter, was seen by 100 million people in the United States. 13.1 million viewers watched the first two hour episode.

"The Bible" also has broken the record for the fastest-selling miniseries on DVD of all time.  A whole year's projection for DVDs was sold in 6 days. So it isn't a surprise that Burnett has decided to make a movie out of the 10-part miniseries.

"We're cutting a movie version right now, a three-hour version of Jesus and [we have] many, many offers from theaters globally," executive producer Mark Burnett saidMark is still deciding whether to go the studio route or distribute it himself.

He told reporters, "It's just a matter of choosing exactly [how to release it]. There have been so many offers. We could put it into arenas. There are very few things like this that would have this kind of life."

"All of those people who rolled their eyes three years ago and said nobody's going to watch The Bible on TV, well, they were wrong," Burnett said. "But I wasn't surprised. I knew it would work like it did."

When asked the reason he believed so many people tuned in, Mark replied "It was God's voice. Too many things happened to see it any other way."

Is it God's voice that will make him millions when "The Bible" hits the theaters?
