Yookyung Leaving A Pink: Frenzy Of Nasty Internet Comments

When A Pink member Yookyung decided that she wanted to leave the group in order to focus more on her studies, her management company was supportive, but fans have not been so understanding.

Cube Entertainment, the agency that represents A Pink, said that they thought for a long time about her choice and ultimately agreed to let her follow the path she has chosen for herself. They said to A Pink fans that they hope everyone will continue to support Yookyung as she continues as a college student.

And idol with a sense of reality, Yookyung wishes to pursue an education to better herself. There was an outpouring of support for AJ when he decided to take a break from U-KISS to further his education in the US and many other idols have experienced the same warm feelings in regards to their university studies. Why then, are fans so outraged with Yookyung's decision?

Judging by the comments made, netizens do not really have a good reason. Many of the negative statements have been directed at her character, appearance, or the fact that she is from a wealthy family. Few have focused on asking whether or not this is a good decision for the singer.

"She has the ugliest face in the group, definitely not a face to call yourself a celebrity with," wrote one internet user. "And it's not like she was a great singer like Eunji either. It'd be better to find success with education, especially coming from a rich family."

Others have been saying that Yookyung received special treatment for being a star. "She got into Joongang University with special treatment and now she's leaving," one netizen posted. Another remarked, "Well she got into college easily for debuting as an idol and since her family's rich, she can switch careers as much as she wants before being married off to another rich family."

Representatives for A Pink responded to the wave of brutal comments across the internet insisting, "The real person going through difficulty is Yookyung. Please refrain from spreading malicious rumors." But that plea appears to be in vain and was met with further criticisms. A to-the-point response read, "Whatever A Cube."

Cube Entertainment says that A Pink will make a comeback in June with a new member in Yookyung's place, and that the group will not be compromised by the lineup change. And on top of all that, it is not uncommon for K-Pop idol groups to go through member changes. What's all the commotion about? Right now it just seems like netizens are bullying Yookyung for making a decision about her future, and that is uncalled for.
