Boston Bombers Basketball Team To Change Name After Terror Attack, Women’s Team Now Called Boston Bulldogs

The Boston Bombers basketball team is a semi-professional women’s team in the Boston area, but on April 15, their names were heavily redefined by a tragic event that occurred in their city.

The city’s only semi-professional women’s basketball team has changed their name, according to MailOnline. After they abruptly closed their Facebook Page and website in a bid to disassociate themselves from last week’s attack that killed three people and injured more than 180 people.

Their revealed their new name Tuesday and they’re now called the Boston Bulldogs.

The team spokesperson spoke to MailOnline saying, “We was planning to changing it once the Boston incident happened.”

The Boston Bombers were one of the more than 40 teams that is part of the Women’s Blue Chip League. It is a non-salaried league that provides its players with advanced exposure for opportunities to compete in the next level.

The team’s logo featured a red and black color scheme with a detonating bomb with four basketball seams crossing the front.

Their website BostonBombersBasketball.com has since been shut down and their Twitter stream only shows Tweets up to last December.

Boston is still recovering from two bombings that went off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The attack left three people dead and injured more than 180 people.
