3 Doors Down bassist Todd Herrell, who has been part of the band since they first formed in 1996, was charged with vehicular homicide and posted bail yesterday afternoon. The bassist for 3 Doors Down was arrested last weekend after a deadly accident in Nashville, TN, when he crashed into a pickup truck. The driver of the truck later died in the hospital.

TMZ has confirmed that the 41-year-old driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

However, the police report notes that Todd was visibly impaired at the time of the crash. He told the officer that he had been drinking and was also under the influence of prescription painkillers Lortab and Xanax. When he was arrested and booked at the local jail, a search of his socks also turned up more prescription painkillers in the form of Oxycodone and Oxymorphone.

In addition to vehicular homicide, Herrell was also charged with bringing controlled substances into the jail. He posted $100,000 bail yesterday afternoon and has since been released.

In response to the tragedy, 3 Doors Down released a statement saying they were cancelling their next four upcoming shows scheduled through the end of May. The band says they made the decision out of respect for the victim and his family.

3 Doors Down has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and are best known for their 2000 hit "Kryptonite", which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Their most recent album, 2011's Time of My Life, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 200.
