Just ahead of her American solo debut, 2NE1 frontwoman CL has set social media on fire with the track "Hello Bitches," and a big reason is her collaboration with choreographer-dancer Parris Goebel.
On Monday, a behind-the-scenes video was released online for "Hello Bitches," where CL and Goebel discussed the performance video with its all-female dance number.
"I wanted to show something new," said CL. "For that, it's also my first time showing something centered on dance."
For that, the video is comprised of ReQuest Dance Crew, an all-female hip-hop dance crew based in Auckland New Zealand. Formed in 2007, Parris Goebel is the group's founder and lead choreographer.
"She's very fearless to me," said Goebel regarding the 2NE1 rapper. "For me, it's my job to make sure that her personality is being portrayed and also, that she's being shown in a different way, in a different light."
Goebel, along with ReQuest Dance Crew, recently gained further notoriety through their work in Justin Bieber's "Sorry" music video. Goebel also choreographed for Big Bang's "Bang Bang Bang" and Taeyang's "Ringa Linga."
But according to Goebel, CL may just be her favorite collaborator to date.
"To be honest, I haven't connected with an artist this well, I don't think, ever," admitted Goebel. "To me, [she's] the perfect mix for a female artist. I love anything that's female empowerment, so for me, I love it when it's tough and sexy at the same time."
According to an interview with Noisey, "Hello Bitches" is simply a "street single" to gift to the fans before her long-awaited solo album.
"This is my first solo album and something that I have always wanted to do so I am excited," said the 24-year-old. "I have good people who support and trust me. I feel blessed. This is just the tip of the iceberg."
