Best Man Fatally Stabs Bride, Democratic Political Consultant Jamie Hahn, Over Possible Campaign Fraud

The best man fatally stabbed the bride and groom yesterday after work disagreements between the couple's best man, Jonathan Broyhill, and the bride, Jamie Hahn, boiled over into violence.

Demoractic political consultant, Jamie Hahn, died early Wednesday morning, from knife wounds sustained at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, after police say Jonathan Broyhill stabbed Jamie and her husband, Nation Hahn.

The 31-year-old Broyhill worked at Jamie Hahn's political consultancy firm, Blue Sky Strategies, and was a long-time friend of Jamie's husband, Nation, even serving as the couple's best man at their wedding in 2009.

The tragic deaths may have come about as a result of work with Former Democratic U.S. Rep, Brad Miller, who said he hired Blue Sky for fundraising help in 2010. Broyhill was the reason why, since he had access to important fundraising software.

Miller spoke about his campaign's unfortunate involvement in the dispute that turned bloody on Wednesday with the Raleigh News Observer:

"Some of the things that Jon said about the campaign finances were inconsistent with other information. It's probably the case that Jamie was asking questions on behalf of the campaign about campaign finances. I think it's bound to be part of the investigation of Jon's motive."

Miller also said he's unaware of any law enforcement involvement in the campaign money that was at issue between Broyhill and Hahn, and that any investigation is limited to the campaign. The FEC sent Miller campaign treasurer, John Wallace, a letter requesting more information on the donors who appeared to have received refunds almost double what they had initially donated to the losing campaign.

Currently, Broyhill is in the hospital with self-inflicted wounds, and he's been charged with the murder of Jamie, 29, as well as the attempted murder of Nation, 27, who survived the attack in their home in Raleigh, North Carolina.

WRAL reports, citing sources "close to the case," that Jason was having dinner with the Broyhill's when Nation excused himself for a couple minutes, and returned to the dining room to see Broyhill stabbing his wife.

Hahn's family released a statement which read:

"We lost a beautiful and loving wife, daughter and friend ... We all lost a pure and brave spirit. She had a gift for bringing us together - black and white, young and old, gay and straight. She challenged us to work together for a better world"

And Nation Hahn took to Twitter to talk about his loss:

"I lost my best friend last night. The sadness is overwhelming ... I want to thank everyone for prayers for Jamie. That type of community spirit defined Jamie. I have no idea what I am going to do without Jamie. She was my center, my rock and my soul mate."
