Yu Darvish GIF Showcases His Five-Pitch Mastery, Texas Rangers Starting Pitcher Dominant In Wednesday’s Game

The Yu Darvish GIF created by Redditor DShep showcases how dynamic Yu’s pitches are in one glance. It’s the perfect rationale that explains why the baseball player is dominant in the field Wednesday, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Yu Darvish seems to be in Cy Young form at this start of the season. Darvish has four wins, leads the league in strikeouts (recording 49 in total) and has already flirted with a perfect game. He was the golden player again on Wednesday, giving up only three hits and not allowing a run to Los Angeles Angels while striking out 11 in six innings. It’s the third time, in only six starts this year, that Darvish has struck out at least 10.

Yahoo! Sports Jeff Passan commented on the Yu Darvish GIF, though as impressive as it is in portraying the pitcher's skill, it doesn’t include his splitter or cutter. There’s a four-seam fastball, two-seamer, hard curve, slow curve and slider, Passan tweeted.

Primarily because of Yu Darvish’s angry pitches, the website’s Tim Brown wrote a column comparing Yu to Pedro Martinez. He said, “The game's best pitchers can throw a handful of pitches, but few absolutely command more than a few. Darvish can. On Wednesday night, he did not throw a splitter or a changeup.” He added that, “Scouts, managers, teammates and opponents agree Darvish is better this April than he was last season, when he came to the U.S., adjusted to the baseball and the routines and the deeper lineups and won 16 games, had a 3.90 ERA and struck out 221 in 191 1/3 innings.”

Yu Darvish, the Texas Rangers’ starting pitcher also pitched in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2009 World Baseball Classic as a member of the Japanese national team. Darvish was considered by many in Japan as the country’s best pitcher in professional baseball, before he arrived and became part of the U.S.A’s Major League Baseball in 2012.
