Katt Williams Sentence: Avoids Jail For Car Chase, Sentenced To Community Service

Katt Williams was sentenced Thursday not to jail time, but to 90 days of community service. Katt Williams, a comedian, received the sentence after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor reckless evasion of an officer in Sacramento, California.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Katt Williams' original sentence was 180 days in county jail. The sentence was for a felony. He pleaded down from a felony to a misdemeanor and was sentenced to 428 hours of community service within nine months for the incident.

"Mr. Williams looks forward to working with the community and moving on with his life," Katt's attorney Richard Schonfeld said Thursday.

The possible Katt Williams jail time sentencing charge was originally a felony vehicle code violation.

Last November, Katt Williams was charged with reckless evasion of an officer in Sacramento. He was on a three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder motorcycle and led police on a chase through sidewalks and walkways in downtown Sacramento. The complaint was originally for disturbing the peace.

Katt Williams reportedly took off his helmet and told police, "I'm not going to stop". Officers decided it was too dangerous to continue and stopped pursuing Williams.

Williams, whose real name is Micah Williams, has also failed to appear several times in the Sacramento Superior Court for hearings related to the case. Last month, he called the chase a "misunderstanding" and called missing his court dates a mistake.

Katt Williams recently announced his retirement from stand-up comedy.
